The soluble fiber in our Adult Formula and Fiber and Kids Formula and Fiber comes from inulin, a natural component found in many plants, such as Jerusalem artichoke and chicory root. The inulin in our Fiber products is extracted from chicory root. Inulin is a fructooligosaccharides (FOS), which is a mixture of linear fructose polymers partly ended by a glucose molecule. In addition to chicory, FOS is found in bananas, garlic, onion, asparagus, and artichoke. Inulin is not digested by the digestive system and is a soluble fiber.
Fiber promotes regularity and increases the presence of beneficial bacteria in the gut.*
While the FDA recommends adults take 28 grams of fiber per day, most of us consume around half of that. This is why we include soluble fiber in our SmartyPants Formula and Fiber supplements— to help close this nutritional gap and to help bring these many benefits to our customers.
